The following are the Terms and Conditions for the purchase of products from Little Blue Cottage Industries. Use of this website constitutes your agreement to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

Payments

For payment we accept paypal, postal orders, bankers drafts and cheques from UK and Irish banks. Please can customers outside of the UK and Ireland please pay in paypal. We will ship your item when your payment has fully cleared.

Shipping

We use An Post (the Irish postal service) to ship all of our items. All items are sent by standard post unless registered post is requested by the customer. There is an additional charge for items sent by registered post. All items priced over €50 are sent by regsitered mail and the shipping cost reflects this pre-requisite in the listing. The weight of the item and shipping destination determines the shipping cost.

We endeavor to dispatch your order within 2 working days when payment has fully cleared.

Please note that delivery times will vary occasionally and this is outside our control, especially during December when post slows up domestically and internationally, so if shopping for Christmas make sure to order in good time. We recommend early December at the latest for international orders.

Shipping costs for the item is stated in the listing of each individual item.

What happens after you buy Vintage Clothing from Us?

Once we have processed your information, you will recieve an invoice. Please be advised we do not hold items, so please make payment as soon as possible. Shipping is calculated according to weight.

Please be aware that our site is manually updated, therefore, a “Sold” sign will not show up automatically after placing your order.

Can we hold / reserve Vintage Clothing for you?

We operate a first come/first served system. For high end items we may take a deposit, please email us with any queries: info@littlebluecottage.ie

Photographs

We have made all reasonable efforts to ensure each photograph accurately reflects the product being sold. On occasions, there may be minor differences between the product’s appearance in the photograph and the item delivered due to colour discrepancies on certain computer monitors and lighting, etc

Shipping your Vintage Clothing

Although we can provide an indication of typical delivery times, specific delivery times or dates cannot be guaranteed. Claims for non-delivery must be made within 20 days.

For orders being shipped outside the Republic of Ireland we cannot be held responsible for importation taxes/duty charges.

All address information must be accurate including the postcode where appropriate and the recipient’s telephone number. Little Blue Cottage cannot accept responsibility for late or non-delivery if the recipient’s address and telephone details are insufficient or incorrect. If the goods are returned to us and a charge will be made for re-delivery to the original or an alternative address. The purchaser will also be charged for any items which have become unsuitable for sale.

We are not responsible for items lost in the post, if you would prefer a registered delivery  please email us. We keep all proofs of postage and we are happy to enter into compensation claims on behalf of our customers if mail should go missing. However, refunds in this respect cannot be given until we have received compensation from the shipping provider.

Little Blue Cottage – how we list our items

We do our very best to accurately date, carefully describe and measure with detail each item for sale.

We check every vintage item with scrutiny when in our care so you only receive the very best.   Please understand that most vintage clothing has been worn and will often not be in perfect ‘as new’ condition – terms from our descriptive chart below will accurately describe every piece.

Vintage Sizing

Our vintage garments are measured in inches/cm with every dimension considered so it is advisable that you measure yourself accordingly as modern day sizing differs so much to clothing in the vintage eras.

If you need help in how to take your measurements or have any questions regarding vintage clothing, we will be more than happy to help.

We provide the following measurements for each vintage clothing garment:

• Bust (from under each arm and across)
• Hips (the widest point)
• Waist (the narrowest point))
• Full length of item
• Length of top/skirt if appropriate
• Any other available dimensions

Vintage Clothing Grades

The following gives details on Vintage clothing grades that we use in our listings:

• Mint: means mint. It means rare, flawless and as perfect and pristine as it was originally, to the point that it may never have been even worn. Garment tags may still be attached.
• Near Mint: shows the lightest of wear Wedding suits and special occasion ball, red carpet and cocktail gowns for example are often near mint.
• Excellent Condition: means totally sound in condition and appearance, but any wear is a result of having been worn now and then, but the item has been well looked after and stored to still keep good looks. The construction of the garment is sound with no buttons missing or unavailable for matching.
• Very Good Condition: means wearable with some flaws. Flaws such as stains or minor structural flaws have made an appearance. However, overall the garment has redeeming factors such as scarcity or a rare print making it desirable. Since the marking may be permanent this is reflected in the selling price.
• Good: means wearable but the item is no longer in pristine condition and if there are repairs to be made it could never achieve excellent condition. Remember vintage garments have been around a long time, so will have deteriorated with the years and with storage conditions. These clothes have been worn, but the fact they still exist means they were favourite items or stylish treasured garments in their day.
• Study pieces: when an item is described as study it means the item is no longer wearable but it would be of use to a museum or fashion student for study or artifact use.

Little Blue Cottage – Returns Policy

All sales are final for Discounted items.

As per the EU Distance Selling Regulations, customers in the EU are entitled to a cooling-off period of 7 days. The email purchase order receipt for your item is our written confirmation of these terms. During the cooling-off period, the consumer can cancel the order without giving a reason and without incurring charges or penalties other than possible charges incurred in returning the goods.

Items must be returned in the same condition in which they were received with tags attached. Refund will not be given for soiled items (soiling includes items which hold the odour of smoke, perfume or washing detergents). This does not affect your statutory rights.

Little Blue Cottage encourage customers to be sure of their purchases, please carefully review the measurements and all specific information prior to ordering. If you are unsure of size please contact us prior to ordering.

After 7 days from receipt of your item, we may consider offering a credit or exchange on returns, please read below:

If you are not happy with your item, we will gladly accept returns given that you follow our guidelines and also understand that this is a resale boutique. We do not rent vintage clothing, this is not a costume shop and every vintage piece is hand-selected based on its rarity, style and condition.

We take great care to describe our vintage collection accurately, and provide all the information you need to know in order to be happy with your purchases from us.

Little Blue Cottage want you to be satisfied with your vintage items. Therefore we offer returns, subject to our approval.

If the item you wish to return has been represented accurately, but you just don’t like the fit, colour, etc we will accept your return and offer you a credit note/exchange.

When we receive your return, you will receive a merchandise credit with us for the total amount of your purchase, minus any shipping costs. You may exchange the item for another piece in our vintage collection.

Returns for credit and exchanges

• Upon our approval, you can exchange the returned item right away for another vintage piece in our collection. Just let us know which item you would like instead and we will post it out when we receive your return.
• The amount of the exchange or credit will be for the total purchase price of any items returned only, not for original shipping charges on those items.
• In case of a price difference between the item purchased originally and the item or items you are exchanging for, we will keep a record of any credit on file, and send you an invoice with your credit total as of the date the return is processed. This credit is good toward any future order with us.
• Shipping charges on returns and exchanges will be paid by the customer.

Full Return

• If you feel that that your purchase has been significantly misrepresented in our description, please contact us and we will discuss any concerns you may have.
• If the return is approved, when we receive the returned item we will refund your purchase.
• We endeavour to disclose (and when possible, photograph) any issues that might compromise the wearablity of our vintage items. However, we sell vintage clothing and accessories, which in most cases have been previously worn, so it is remotely possible that we might miss something.
• Shipping costs are not refundable.

Returning your Item

Please make sure the clothing is in the exact condition as when it was sent, the Little Blue Cottage tag is still attached and the clothing item is returned to us immediately. It is required that you email us regarding your return and receive authorisation to return it.

Please be prepared to send the clothing back immediately and treat our clothing with great care while in your possession. If the vintage clothing is returned to us damaged or worn while in your possession, you will not receive a refund.

Return Rules

To return a clothing item, you must notify us by email receive authorisation.

Items must be shipped back immediately within 7 days of receipt. All shipping, customs, duty fees, or any other charges related to shipping & taxes are the customers responsibility.

Shipping is non-refundable – we are not in a position to refund shipping charges under any circumstances.

Each clothing item must be returned in the same condition it was sent: Unworn, undamaged and with the Little Blue Cottage tag still attached.

You will not receive a refund if a vintage item has been worn by the customer or damaged. You are required to receive authorization before returning the clothing. Items returned without authorization will only be granted a refund at our discretion.

We recommend returning your item by registered post or by similar traceable means since we cannot process your credit or exchange if we do not receive your returned items due to post office error.

If we are not available to answer, leave a message with information regarding your return. If you are new to vintage clothing, some things that may damage the clothing while in your possession include: make-up, deodorant, nicotine, animals, food, sunlight and humidity.

Non-pickup of orders from the sorting office: 5 day return policy. We are not responsible for orders not collected from your post office. Please note, if the order has not been collected and is returned to us, then you will have to incur the shipping costs in order for redelivery. Please email us if this happens to you.
